One of the other larger museums in the area is the Baltimore Museum of Art. This museum also has a great collection of over 90,000 pieces from ancient art to modern art and sculptures.

Speaking of modern art, the American Visionary Art Museum certainly fills any voids that may be there. AVAM focuses mostly on works from self-taught artists and has changing exhibitions in addition to a 4,000 piece permanent collection.

The list of other museums in Baltimore is almost endless. Do you like comics, toys, and other pop culture collectibles? Then visit Geppi’s Entertainment Museum, which is above the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards. It was opened by comic book mogul and Baltimore native, Steve Geppi.

Do you like sports? After visiting the Sports Legend Museum, then hop over to the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum which is just “a long fly ball from Camden Yards.” See the rowhouse where Babe spent his formative years plus some really cool memorabilia including Ruth’s oldest known baseball card. Also check out the Lacrosse Museum and National Hall of Fame.

Do you like trains? Then visit the B&O Railroad Museum or the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. Do you like going to the dentist? Then visit the National Museum of Dentistry which features George Washington’s dentures. As it turns out they are not wooden!

Are you interested in African American history? Then Check out the Frederick Douglas-Isaac Myers Maritime Park or the Reginald F. Lewis Museum or the National Great Black in Wax Museum. Are you interested in military history? Then check out Fort McHenry or the Phoenix Shot Tower or the Star Spangled Banner Flag House or the Maryland Museum of Military History.

Yes the list does go on and on! As you can see there is something for everyone, so no one gets bored at Chesapeake Commons!
